Close-up of raspberry citrus finishing salt in a glass jar with scattered salt, a lemon, and a lime on a wooden surface

Raspberry Citrus Salt

Ingredients

  • 6 tbsp coarse sea salt
  • 3 tbsp freeze dried raspberries, crushed (about 1/2 cup whole)
  • 1 tbsp combined lemon and lime zest (add directly to salt and let dry together)
  • 1/2 tsp hibiscus powder (optional for rich color and tart flavor)

Instructions

Hibiscus Powder

  • Add ~2 tbsp dried hibiscus flowers into a clean spice grinder. Grind into powder.

Raspberry Citrus Salt

  • Crush the raspberries using a mortal and pestle (or spice grinder) until textured but not too fine.
  • Zest your lemon and lime and add directly to the salt mixture. Let the combined mixture air dry, uncovered, in a thin layer for several hours or overnight, stirring occasionally.
  • Once dry, combine with remaining ingredients and stir gently to distribute flavors and colors evenly.
  • Store in an airtight spice jar or 4 oz mason jar in a cool, dry place.

Notes

Use me on:
  • Rim a glass for mocktails, margaritas, or sparkling lemonade
  • Sprinkle over grilled chicken, shrimp, or tofu
  • Add to summer salads (like watermelon & feta or citrus beet)
  • Dust over roated beets or sweet potatoes
  • Top goat cheese or brie with crackers for a fancy appetizer
  • Sprinkle on chocolate-dipped strawberries or brownies
  • Try on avocado toast with a drizzle of honey (trust me!)
Gift Idea:
Add a handwritten label or printed tag with the recipe and suggested uses. Pair with a jar of infused honey or a mocktail mixer for a beautiful homemade gift!
