Thyme Iced Coffee: An Herbal Twist on Summer Cold Brew
If you’re searching for a new way to zhuzh up your morning coffee, let me introduce you to your next obsession: Thyme Iced Coffee. This isn’t just your average cold brew — it’s an enchanting blend of deep coffee, creamy half-and-half, and a splash of homemade thyme syrup that brings a garden-fresh note to every sip. If you’ve ever loved the way herbs can transform a mocktail, you’re going to adore what they do to coffee!
Why Put Thyme in Coffee?
Herbs and coffee might sound unusual at first, but trust me — there’s a reason so many trendy cafes are experimenting with herbal syrups and botanical flavors. Thyme, in particular, has gentle floral and citrusy notes that complement the rich flavors of coffee beautifully. After making thyme syrup for mocktails, I couldn’t resist trying it in my cold brew, and the result was pure magic.
The Magic of Thyme Iced Coffee
What makes Thyme Iced Coffee so special? The thyme syrup adds a refreshing brightness and subtle sweetness, perfectly balancing the boldness of cold brew. Each sip is a little herbal, a little creamy, and a whole lot of delicious. The drink feels indulgent, but it’s so easy to make, you can whip it up any time you want to turn an ordinary coffee break into something special.
How to Make Thyme Iced Coffee
Making this herbal iced coffee couldn’t be easier! Start with a tall glass packed with ice, add your favorite cold brew (I used Stok), pour in a couple ounces of thyme syrup, and finish with a swirl of half-and-half. Stir, sip, and enjoy the way the thyme lifts the flavors and wakes up your taste buds. If you’re feeling extra, garnish with a fresh sprig of thyme for a coffeehouse-meets-garden moment right at your desk.
Tips for the Best Herbal Iced Coffee
- Use good cold brew: A smooth, less-acidic cold brew lets the thyme shine.
- Homemade thyme syrup: It’s easy, and fresher than store-bought.
- Adjust sweetness: Start with 2 oz of syrup, then taste and add more or less.
- Ice is everything: Fill your glass all the way for the ultimate chill.
- Garnish: A sprig of thyme looks beautiful and adds a subtle aroma.
